Working with a new product team at Stripe is a vice president of Meta’s virtual reality (VR) social network Horizon Worlds.

According to his LinkedIn article, Vivek Sharma joined Stripe this week as its new head of revenue and financial management. He is working with a new team to create technologies that will aid companies in managing, tracking, and analyzing their income.

Over the past ten years, online business strategies have shown tremendous innovation. Fintech and the creative economy are pervasive, and stores are evolving into markets and platforms, according to Sharma.

But the financial systems have not kept pace. However, businesses must adhere to the principles, including how to accommodate new payment methods and/or charge customers. How can we maintain track of all the financial obligations and assets that are dispersed throughout the cloud? And how can we do this in a compliant fashion in international markets?

Sharma left his position in August, and Vishal Shah took over, according to a PYMNTS report from the time. Sharma was a part of the team that built the metaverse virtual world that users of Meta’s VR technology could access.

When Horizon Worlds’ CEO Mark Zuckerberg debuted an in-world avatar of himself, it drew criticism for looking dated and being of low general quality, which led to his resignation in reaction.

Sharma leaves the metaverse’s problems behind at Stripe in favor of managing sales and finances for businesses in the real world.

Sharma added, “We’re helping businesses produce more money in more ways and making accounting, tax, and analytics a ton easier.” This is critical in the current recession in order to manage that income with the least amount of labor.

According to him, doing this right “may be a big generator of economic potential for organizations around the world” as Stripe is used by millions of businesses.
