Corporate payment company FLEETCOR announced that it would acquire Roomex, a provider of employee housing in Europe. The company will be able to build its hotel division and go global thanks to this move.
600 people work for Roomex, and they have stayed in hotels for 50,000 nights. Dublin, Ireland is home to the company’s corporate headquarters.
Reservations can be made for visitors at 45,000 hotels, the majority of which are found in the United States, by FLEETCOR’s lodging division. Customers gain from this division’s discounts, particular controls, and streamlined invoicing.
Roomex “provides us a very comparable workforce housing business in Europe,” claims Ron Clarke, chairman and CEO of FLEETCOR Technologies, Inc.
A recent acquisition by FLEETCOR involved the airline software company Levarti, which provides services for automating passenger interruptions such as passenger alerts, aircraft rebookings, hotel accommodations, transfers, and vouchers.
The MAX software package, introduced by Levarti in 2014, was adopted by international airlines seeking to automate their operations. The software gives travelers a complete digital journey that includes check-in, contactless payments during flight, and baggage claim.
The purchase will provide a “complementary solution to further automate and expedite passenger interruption situations for our airline clients,” according to a remark from Clarke at the time.
In other hotel technology news, cloud-based software partner HotelKey and specialist payment platform Paysafe have partnered to provide seamless hotel payments for both front-of-house and back-of-house tasks.
In-person, card-present and card-not-present transactions for all hotel channels, including the front desk, bars, restaurants, gift shops, and on-site events and catering, are intended to be made simpler as a result of the agreement. Additionally, it would assist hotels in making payments for operational requirements like food and beverage orders and supplies for cleaning.
